The new episode of Media Astra Ac Terra is now available, and I’ve got lots of links for you! The Astra segment in particular included several links, as I talked about some free software programs that you might want to check out if you’re interested in either astronomy or astrology. So I’ll start with those.
Stellarium is a great astronomy program, that shows you the sky at your location, or any other location you choose – including some on other planets! This is a great way to get to know the night sky better.
Astrodienst is the Swiss astrology website that offers free as well as paid readings, where you can set up a free account to store your chart data so you can take advantage of their services. This is a nice option if you need to access your information while away from home, or if you don’t want to go to the trouble of installing programs on your computer.
Astrolog is the program I’ve been using lately for chart calculation. Another option is AstroWin, though I’ve had trouble getting it to run on Windows Vista. That site includes several other programs for specific types of calculation, including Transits, which I’ve been using to keep track of daily transits specific to the layout of my own birth chart.
Whichever option you choose, you’ll need to know your latitude and longitude. iTouchMap offers a tool that will give you the coordinates of any point. If you need to convert the latitude and longitude you find there, here is a site that will do that for you in either direction.
And lastly, there’s Lunabar, the lunar almanac program that sits in your Windows system tray and displays the phase and sign that the Moon is in.
The Terra segment is much lighter on the links this time, but I will point you to the Sacred Texts Archive copy of the Emerald Tablet of Hermes, since I mentioned it.
Another book for you, mentioned a few times in the main part of the show, is Eliphas Levi’s book Transcendental Magic. You can find used copies in several places online, but that link will bring you to the Google Books copy of it. And since the main show was about the imagery of the Greek sphinx as it relates to the elements and magick, here’s a nice picture of an ancient Greek sculpture of the type of sphinx I was talking about, dating back to the 5th century BCE.
And finally, in this episode I played promos for The Dark Side of Fey with Darkly Fey, and Get Witchified with Oseaana December. If you’re looking for other pagan podcasts, I hope you’ll give them a listen!
As always, thanks for listening to Media Astra Ac Terra.
Bright and dark blessings,
–Sphinx–
